Quantum physics says that particles are in several states at once, or in “superposition”. By some interpretations, particles are in superposition until they interact with other particles, and by others, they are in superposition even when interacting with other particles. By the former interpretation, however, particles are never in superposition at all because particles are always interacting with each other, and are nothing to the universe but their interaction with each other. By the latter interpretation, the interactions between particles would themselves be in superposition and therefore so would be the entire universe. By some interpretations, which of the states in superposition the universe goes to is entirely without cause, and by other interpretations, which of the states in superposition the universe goes to is caused by consciousness. As everything has a cause, the latter interpretation, “quantum mysticism”, is more common, and has become the core belief of the New Age. The New Age is now the fastest growing religion in the West, where it will likely become a world religion, and all because as it was science that kept people from believing in the old religions, it was science itself that had to become the new religion for those that were not yet ready to live without religion. Science turned into a religion as soon as scientists said that quantum physics was beyond us, which is the same thing that theologists used to say about God. Quantum physicists have become the theologists of the new religion, and no doubt would have been theologists of Christianity had they lived a century before.
