Social networks could search people based on likes and public browsing, and could recommend people as friends based on how many of the same pages they like or publicly browse. Once enough people have befriended in this way, they could also recommend other people based on the similarities of their web histories with those of the people who have already befriended in this way. This could make it easier to find friends, up to a point where it could make the average relationship much closer than it is now.
