Marathon

Let me live long enough,
To deliver my memories.
I would rather be resting,
Could I ever rise again.
The night will freeze me,
If I lay down even once.
Once started I cannot stop,
Or all has been for naught.
My path goes over mounts,
But none other is ahead.
If I stray on either side,
The abyss will receive me.
When the sunrise in the morn,
Shows me where to give my life,
I'll be part of something greater,
As it takes my last breath away.
