Give us your firstborn,
And all those born thereafter
We have come to enlist them
In our army for all their lives.
They were born during service;
You have better things to do.
Abandon them now to us,
For they are now our own.
Do not listen to their cries,
As they are put to our abuse,
Just leave them at our mercy,
Till we’ve made them just like you.
Every child is to be kidnapped,
By the crime lords of the state,
Enslaved to keep their score,
As toy soldiers in their game.
They strapped this life to their altar
To burn it in sacrifice to themselves
Who they worshipped as gods of all.
The smoke filled through the room,
Dulled their senses with its smell,
And comforted them with its fog.
They watched the flesh burn,
Thought it an improvement,
And waited for my thanks.
For life to them is a vermin,
To be purged by any means,
And now indeed I was clean, just as all the rest.
