Horizons

I gaze across the horizon
That I long to reach beyond,
It beckons me from all sides
And pulls me till I tear apart.
All the pieces that make up me
Are spreading far and wide.
All of us move another way,

But none know where to go.
I fall face first onto the waves,
And dissolve as a tear in the sea,
To move everywhere at once
Yet nowhere in particular.
I am spread thin beyond myself
Until there's nothing left of me
Still it seems I am not far enough
To be far enough away from me.
This sense of being separate
Stares forever back at me,
From deep within all I see
Wherever I choose to look.
